Nordic Championship 2026

The Danish Go Association is pleased to host the 2026 Nordic Championship. The tournament is open for all nationalities, however only players from the Nordic countries, will be able to fight for the prestigious title of 'Nordic Champion'. The highest placing player from a Nordic country will take the title!

Where and when?

The 2026 Nordic Championship will be held during the Easter holidays, 3.-5 of April 2026.

The tournament will be held in Copenhagen at,

Schedule & Rules

Tournament system: 6 Rounds McMahon

Rules: EGF rules, Japanese with 6½ komi

Time settings: Fischer, 70 minutes + 20s/move

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 players of the open tournament. 

An additional prize will be given to the player who earns the title of 'Nordic Champion'.

Further prizes may be given to players who show good results, such as winning 4 games or more.

The expected prize pool is at least 3000 DKK (400 euro), although this will depend on the number of participants, and may change.

Travel & Accomodation

Copenhagen can be reached by train, bus or airplane via Copenhagen Airport.

Copenhagen has various options of hotels, hostels and Airbnb.
